Children are a gift from God.
Such pure innocence and hearts of love. God’s Love. Conversations with little ones are some of the best moments. Sounds of laughter, smiles, excitements, imaginations, joy, and so much more. When was the last time you sat down with your child and listened to their story? Avoiding all mommy responsibilities except for intentional listening to that sweet, innocent child who craves you. To feel cherised that very moment.
Our days take over. Work, dishes, laundry, activities, and the list goes on. We easily get consumed with responsibility and forget to think like a child some days. We have pure intentions. I do. But we have a sinful nature that can easily move to the front if we aren’t armed in God. That’s when we feel a tap on the leg and we turn around to see eyes full of security, love, intent, joy, and pure innocence. Isn’t that how God wants us to see him when he wants our attention? When we take the time to listen to our children with intentional hearts we not only listen to God with intentional hearts but we show our children a display of love that only comes from God.
Tonight at bed time my children 5 and 3 wanted to talk about Heaven. “Mom, when we go to Heaven?” “What does Heaven look like?” “Do you think God will be there with lots of flowers and grass everywhere to give me a big hug?” ” Mommy, can we go to Heaven tomorrow to see our sister there for her birthday?”
Tonight God tugged not only at my leg but at my heart. He showed me again how he loves me. He reminded me that this is our temporary home. Our pain, hurts, trials, are all temporary. He is in our permanent home with open arms waiting to give me a big hug. Until then, he will show me his love, mercy, grace, and so much more through my little children. Reminding me to love like him and rest in his faithful and undying love. His plans are great than mine. We are all God’s cherished children.
Pray each day for our children to have innocence and purity each day as they grow.
