Messy Days

August 4, 2012 · Leave a Comment

We all have messy days. You know the ones where our kids hearing suddenly stops when we need them to help pick up their toys. We have swept 4,5, 6, and many more times until we finally just give up until the kids go to bed.

Or maybe it’s a messy day where everything just seems to crumble before you and you can’t find all the pieces. Maybe you have a messy day like me where your biggest flaws appear least expected while parenting your sweet babies, having a conversation with your husband that just isn’t going as planned, or your schedule is so overwhelming you secretly wish it was just disappear for a day or two.

Days that we plan so carefully to go just as planned, perfectly detailed, and tight schedules. These are the days that are messy days. Dishes piled high and laundry to fold. Messy Days.

When I truly look at my messy days I am reminded these are daily and this is the season I am in. The season of messy hands, mouths to feed, clothes to be washed, alphabets and bible songs, and even on our daily messy days and we want to just sit down and breath 7pm rolls around and we still have to bath and brush teeth before bedtime.

A season of busyness. A season of Messy Days. A season of Motherhood.

I catch myself starting to grumble, my voice starting to rise, and God gently reminds me these messy days of mine are

GOD ORDAINED MESSY DAYS

Messy days he has planned to remind us to rely on his grace and love instead of my own strength.

One day I will not be feeding or bathing them. I will not be sweeping crumbs over and over. I will one day turn around in my home with all the clothes folded and put away, empty sinks, and my season of Motherhood {young children motherhood} has gone away.

Today I will embrace these days. I will thank God for these ordained messy days. I will stop stressing over the household chores today and stop and read them their book. I will embrace my marriage and give my husband quality time with out nagging about my messy days. I will embrace this Season of Motherhood and trust God in the midst of my messy day.

Facing Tough Encounters

Facing Tough Encounters

Since the beginning of our homeschooling journey I have been at peace with decisions that I made to provide an environment for my children that embraced their over all well-being. An environment of interest, creativity, strengths and weaknesses, love, joy, kindness, and yes even disagreements with brother but healthy disagreements. Healthy disagreements where we can […]

Homeschool

It has been raining for like the millionth day but the rain has forced us to stay home more than usual and allow us to really focus on some things around the house. So even though I miss the sunshine I am thankful for the rain too. We started a whole new adventure since the […]

Cold Winter Days and Warm Soup

Cold Winter Days and Warm Soup

Goodness this holiday season flew by but I held tight to every moment with my family. We have had some cold winter days this last week in Texas and that could only mean warm snuggles in cozy sherpa blankets and homemade chicken noodle soup. One of my favorite memories with my grandmother was cooking in […]
