Every summer our family and my husband’s brother and his family spend a week vacationing together. The last two summers we visited Colorado and it was amazing. This summer we decided to stay closer to home since we couldn’t go for as many days. We took our kids to Broken Bow, Oklahoma for this first time and it did not disappoint. We had so much fun staying in a cabin together and visiting Beavers Bend State Park. Our cabin was perfect for two families with kids that could share a room. Such a great family space and a close drive to the lake.
We booked our cabin through Blue Beaver Cabins right in Hochatown and was just a short drive to Beavers Bend State Park. The cabin was full of entertainment for our families. A pool table, tv’s, lots of board games, cornhole, jacuzzi hot tub, outdoor seating with tv, and a fun kids room with bunk beds. The cabin provided all of our bed linens, towels, lots of blankets, and plenty of starters for cleaning. The kitchen met all of our needs for cooking at the cabin for the week including all appliances and outdoor grills to accommodate our meals that we brought for the week.
We had lots of relaxation time at the cabin but we also explored Hochatown and did some local shopping at Bruton’s Outdoors, which was our favorite, the gift shop at Abendigo’s, a few other local stops, and we had some amazing pizza at Grateful Head Pizza Oven which seriously had some pretty good ranch! We also spent a day kayaking the river in the State Park. There was a swimming/beach access area that was fun or everyone. We were able to rent kayaks and paddleboards and explore the river for a couple of miles. It was perfect for beginners and young children.
We loved every part of this family vacation as we always do each summer. It was nice to do something a little more relaxing this summer but we are always up for an adventure with our cousins. This would be a great place for families anytime of the year with plenty of things to see and do but also spend a weekend or week relaxing and enjoying your family time together. Here are just a few pictures of our cabin and exploring. Here’s to the Summer!
