This weekend is my son’s sixth birthday party. This year he asked for a Fire Fighter Birthday. I am surprised he hasn’t asked for this theme being that daddy is a firefighter but I am excited it is this year because he really loves firefighters. Especially his dad!
I love to bake. I am not a definitely not a professional and I learned a lot from my grandmother when I was little and self-taught through out the years. Every year I make my kid’s birthday treats and we do fun recipes during the Holidays too. So I asked my little man what he wanted me to make and his response was marshmallow pops, cake pops, cupcakes, and oh yeah a fire truck. So I couldn’t say no.
I have in mind the fire truck shape and the colors of course but I wanted to do a little more than just frosting on the cake and I wanted it to look smooth. I have heard the store-bought fondant really doesn’t taste that great and it is super expensive. So what did I do? I pinterest-ed it! There are a lot of fondant recipes but the Marshmallow just seemed the best. There are several marshmallow fondant recipes too but after searching for two weeks this one just stuck with me. I found it at A Spicy Perspective blog and she has amazing recipes. Here is her Marshmallow Fondant recipe.
All you need is marshmallows, water, confectioners {powdered} sugar, flavored extract {optional}, and shortening. Oh an cornstarch for rolling. Crazy, right! Simple and it was oh so easy. Follow her directions though about greasing the bowls, the spatula, paddle, and the surface area for you to roll your fondant. It is super sticky!
Here is a picture of my bright white marshmallow fondant! I am crazy excited that I at least accomplished making it. As for the Fire Truck check back this weekend. I am going to separate it and color it red, grey, black, and leave some white.
Stay tuned for the fire truck cake this weekend lovelies!
Love,

I can’t wait to see the Fire Truck. I have a little girl wanting one of those Barbie sticking out of the cake Birthday cakes made for her party. She is going to be 3 years old in a couple of weeks. I am thankful for Youtube!
