Pinterest Fail = What the heck was I thinking??

October 23, 2012 · 2 Comments

So ladies! I have to share right now because if you would have been in my bathroom with me the last 15 minutes we would have laughed together so hard our stomachs hurt and tears were falling. My pampering went seriously wrong tonight = Pinterest Fail.

I love Pinterest! You have instant access to recipes, crafts, ideas, fashion ( for me who is not a fashionista whatsoever), and my all time love QUOTES. But that’s not what I am writing about. I decided to try a homemade pampering pin for my face. A pore cleanser that cleans away the blackheads on your face like the pore strips at the store. You know the ones that you get wet on your nose and let it dry while you check pinterest, emails, text, read a magazine, or whatever is what you do while your barricaded in your bathroom avoiding the toddler questions like, mommy why do you have a band-aid on your nose?

I was having a girls night in, pampering my skin, relaxing, the kids are asleep, the hubby is gone, and I am here, minus the girlfriends, so it is more like a mommy sanity breather moment. The thought pops in my head. Remember that home-made recipe on Pinterest, I need to try it.

 I am being honest about my experience I will share all the details of myself but I will not link the pin. I am not here to bash someone, their pin, their recipe, or anything harmful. It is just me sharing my realness…and I started feeling guilty so I needed to get that off my chest.

here we go….here we go….I totally have that song in my head and I have no clue from where but I thought about it while I am getting this party started…{{Sorry I know you are not hearing my thoughts but I hope your dancing and singing now.}}

The mix was 1 tablespoon of unflavored packaged gelatin and 1 1/2 tablespoon of milk (I used almond milk) heat in microwave for 12 seconds and stir together then apply to face. The pin did say entire face too but I would have thought ahead I would have just applied to my noset.

I applied to my face and let it dry for the 15 – 30 minutes. Perfect time to work on bible study, although my cat was in desperate need of attention.

Pampering Party goes completely wrong in 0-12 minutes! Friends!! I am not kidding you my face was as hard as a burnt biscuit. You know the ones you have overcooked and you can throw on the floor and it could literally break something like a rock. I started to get really scared when I couldn’t smile. I tried just a little but it hurt and it really felt like it would crack my face. I didn’t know what to think so I jumped off my comfy spot on the couch three minutes early than the minimum time allowed. I seriously don’t know what could have happened at thirty minutes.

I look at myself in the mirror and I see this clear hard layer of stuff on my face and I couldn’t help it friends. I was like a kid in a candy store and I couldn’t resist the curiosity to get that candy bar = smile…..I smiled and it literally hurt. Ya’ll!! you can really hurt to smile! I never believed that until tonight! All the people out there that look like it hurts to smile I am convinced now they tried this mask at home and they were too scared to peel it off! Seriously though this sucker hurt!

I had to get some courage quickly to peel this off. The smile cracked and there was my courage, I could see my skin. OMG!! I thought my first layer of skin peeled off! I got some of it off and I was determined to peel it off my nose. I had to eventually wash off with warm water than torture myself any longer.

Pinterest recipe fail = what the heck was I thinking and lessons learned…..

1) Do some research first don’t just dive in like I did with a sinking ship

2) the skin around my cheeks and jaw are way more sensitive than my nose

3) milk and gelatin on your skin = not a good mix

4) milk and gelatin = may be a good concoction for paper mache

5) don’t try this with a migraine unless you want to increase it by ripping the tiny little hairs on your face off.

6) next mommy sanity saver moment just go to bed and get some sleep, read a book, do my bible study without emergencies pampering, anything really will do.

7) text a friend during the process and then call immediately after it fails so you can give her a good laugh!

If you want to torture yourself try this at home, but I know you don’t. {please know I am not blaming Pinterest either…I pinned and tried and got tortured along the way, eh…I chose to do it.}

Love,

    Angie, this literally made me laugh out loud. I really needed that today! Probably one of my most favorite blog quotes ever: “My face was literally as hard as a burnt biscuit.” I am dying right now…so funny!

Chalkola + Birthday

We celebrated our sweet girl turning 12 years old! She loves all things horses, rainbows, and farm animals. I loved being able to spoil her with her favorites for the day. Riding horses, horse and rainbow cake, family time, pizza, and this adorable Chalkola Chalkboard. I am not an artist but the Chalkola brand chalk […]

His Love

This world is full of sorrow and suffering and death. But thankfully, this world isn’t it for us. Because of God’s greatest gift of salvation, we have the hope of the world to come, where there is no suffering and peace surpasses everything.  The storms that are raging and crashing all around us….will stop. That sickness […]
