Every New Year’s I tend to choose a “Word” to focus on rather a resolution such as Brave, Fierce, Joyful, just to name a few. This year my heart
was is being tugged to focus on a specific bible verse which I can reflect on two words Salt & Light.
Matthew 5:13 Be the Salt…..
Matthew 5:16 Be the Light….
Several months ago I was noticing these two scriptures more every time I opened my bible or a devotional and I would just navigate straight to those verses. I honestly didn’t pay attention too much at the time. As the holidays approached I was struggling with coming up with my word except for the two above. Salt and Light. I knew then God was needing me to dig into these scriptures this season and I wanted share what I am in the process of journaling.
I want to reflect the light of Jesus with everyone I come in contact with. To be able to shine and be the light and salt for Jesus I have been thinking a lot of these questions.
Am I alive in HIS word?
How present is his light in me?
Is his light shining in to the dark places?
Does it give my soul unspeakable joy?
I am praying for contentment in his word. Let his love overcome my sin and let my need for the savior be more present. I must have a heart for the lost and seek his word to not just hear it but to speak it and live it for others.
You are the salt of the earth…You are the light of the world…
Faith with Actions….Be a salty. A people of influence. Jesus doesn’t tell us we have the potential or to try really hard. He says YOU ARE the salt and the light. He believes in us. When Jesus is telling us we are salt and light he is saying you have an impact on others. People will see the gospel and have an interpretation of the gospel through us. You are salt and light through the way you live out your life. Through the way you speak. Through the way you choose to treat others. You can’t just speak his words you have to live them. Live your faith out daily.
One thing that has been heavy on my heart reading these scriptures are that Jesus words say You are the Salt and You are the light but it really just isn’t you or me. You have heard the saying it takes a village with raising our children, right? Doesn’t it also take a village of believers to be the salt and light on the earth.
Ya’ll are the Salt. Ya’ll are the Light.
We are a family of believers The light can fill the entire room with a big influence on others. Do you light up the room teaching your children to have love and grace of Christ to spread his GOODNESS to others? When I thought of this question I was certainly convicted of how much salt and light am I teaching my children. Of course I felt I was doing great but we all fall short and that’s ok Jesus teaches us all about love and grace.
We may doubt what we are capable of to be the salt and light but Jesus believes in us and has entrusted us with his gospel to share his word with everyone around us. To build his kingdom up with believers.
Be HIS influence in the world. Be the hands and feet of Jesus.
YOU are the LIGHT of the world. YOU are the SALT of the Earth.
My friend Jena has an amazing Print Shop Ministry TT and Twins sharing HIS word on the softest graphic tees. When she shared her new line coming a little while back and I was excited that GOD was using her to confirm my scriptures to live out this year. I am so thankful for our friendship and the Salt and Light instills on others. Show her some love and you will be so blessed by her heart and love for God and others. Be Salty!
What is your word, resolution, or any other way you celebrate the New Year and want to share with me. I would love to hear all about it!! Be blessed sweet friends!
